Rumors of Samsung's upcoming flagship the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have been doing the rounds for a while. The South Korean tech giant was said to be working on an enhanced iris scanner for the device, while an alleged render also hit the interweb. Now Evan Blass writing for VentureBeat has revealed some details about the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

According to Blass Galaxy S9 series will be an iterative update in "tock" cycle as Galaxy S8 was a major upgrade as part of "tick" cycle. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are said to be codenamed Star 1 and Star 2 with model numbers SM-G960 and SM-G965, and will be previewed at CES 2018 in Las Vegas in January. However, it is now known how much information Samsung will reveal about its duo flagships at the event. But the official launch will take place in March.

As for the design, the Galaxy S9 series will have almost same design as the Galaxy S8 line with some incremental changes. In Galaxy S8 the fingerprint scanner was placed right next to the camera, but in the Galaxy S9 it will be placed under the camera module. Moreover, only the Galaxy S9+ will have dual-camera setup, like the Galaxy Note8.

Moving on to the specs, Just like Galaxy S8/S8+, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will sport 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch curved-edge Super AMOLED Infinity display. They will be powered by Snapdragon 845 and Exynost 9 series 9810 chips depending on the region.

Apart from dual-camera and screen size, the Galaxy S9/S9+ will also be differentiated by memory size. The Galaxy S9 is said to have 4GB RAM, and Galaxy S9+ 6GB RAM. Both models will come with 64GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack and AKG-powered stereo speakers.

Lastly the source says that Samsung is working on a backward-compatible DeX docking station, that will allow users to lay the smartphones flat and use the screens as a touchpad or virtual keyboard.
