OnePlus' latest flagship the OnePlus 5 was officially unveiled last week. Even though OnePlus had already stopped selling OnePlus 5 in other markets such as The U.S and Europe, it was still available in India. As for the future of the device, it will meet the same fate as OnePlus 3 when OnePlus 3T was launched (and OnePlus 3T when OnePlus 5 was launched).

OnePlus has confirmed that it is going to discontinue the OnePlus 5 in India, and will focus on the new OnePlus 5T.

In an interview with the Indian Express, OnePlus India Head Vikas Aggarwal revealed that as soon as OnePlus 5 goes out of stock, OnePlus will discontinue the product in India. Aggarwal also mentioned that OnePlus will have only one smartphone at a time, which is the latest and the new OnePlus 5T offers a better display and superior performance than the OnePlus 5.

“If you look at our previous phone, the OnePlus 3T the last batch was sold out during Diwali and now the product will be discontinued. The same goes for the OnePlus 5, which will also be sold out in sometime, and we’ll have only one product OnePlus 5T in the market. As a brand we want to make sure there is one device which is the latest, and the previous devices are usually sold out once the new product launches.” Aggarwal told The Indian Express.

To recap the specs, the OnePlus 5T has 6.01-inch Full HD+ Optic AMOLED Gorilla Glass 5 display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 835 chip, 16MP+20MP dual-cameras, 16MP front camera, fingerprint scanner and 3300mAh battery.

It runs Android Nougat out of the box and comes in two models: 6GB/64GB priced at Rs. 32,999 and 8GB/128GB priced Rs. 37,999. It will be avalable in India later today, but only for Amazon Prime users via Amazon India early access sale. Regular sales will begin November 28.
